Hmmm. I usually don't fall victim to the "gotta have every layout idea book out there" syndrome. I looked at this book very carefully and thought I'd benefit from having it in my library. And this is a Memory Makers, not real old.....I should've saved for the upcoming PageMaps book by Becky Fleck. These layouts are ridiculous, once you have the time to really look at them. They include, and I'm not kidding:
rotten bananas,
a mailbox,
dishes,
laundry,
remote controls,
37 rolls of toilet paper,
an aversion to avocado,
Class rings?
Come on, we all want to capture the small stuff, not just the weddings and birthdays in our life, but this is pitiful. Its almost as if she ran out of things to scrap and started looking around going-"Hey, there's rotten fruit, I can do that!" Maybe because she lives in New Zealand, she has a different perspective that we aren't ready for...but whatever it is, I'll be sitting this book out at my annual yard sale for $2.

I have been guilty of "staging" shots of everyday family life because I needed to have pictures for my scrapbook pages. After getting this publication, I can now relax and take pictures as they happen. Best of all, there are so many ideas on how to make these everyday pictures take on a new life in my albums that I will never run out of ideas.

Why not celebrate also your everyday life?
The mess your children make when they get home?
The life you sometimes think is so boring today, but you are going to miss so badly when you are older.
I thinK this author is an inspired person.

I have purchased lots of books about scrapbooking - always looking for something to inspire me. I found plenty in this book, in fact, this is one of the few books that I actually read every word of - cover to cover - instead of just skimming through it. It is full of great thought provoking ideas that you can actually use and the samples are compelling. Most of the layouts featured are based in reality, not on some complicated artists vision. I would highly recommed this book to everyone interested in scrapping the everyday.
