Product Description:

Rowenta DZ9080 Advancer Iron

New from Rowenta, the DZ9080 Advancer Iron. A completely new construction technique provides the Rowenta Microsteam soleplate with the best ever steam and heat distribution for the most effective ironing. More than 400 microsteam holes ensure even and optimal steam distribution from tip of the soleplate to the rounded rear for fast, expert results with ease. The high quality stainless steel soleplate is attached to the heavy aluminum core in a unique way that provides an ultra smooth surface with a thin edge that can iron up to buttons, seams and delicate fabrics without snagging. The unique Platinium treated stainless steel soleplate provides an excellent glide and the scratch resistant properties of the stainless steel produces a harder surface with better non stick and non scratch properties. Maintaining the correct temperature is key to good ironing performance and garment care. The DZ9080 has an electronic temperature control that combines sensitive electronic sensors and controls with LED lights in an easy-to use-system. Steam Advance system, the key to easier ironing. Delicate steam is used for delicate fabrics that require gentle care. High pressure steam for thicker fabrics and tough wrinkles. Steam is created under pressure ensures a deep penetration into the fabric to relax the fibers and let wrinkles be pressed out in ease. An automatic pause between bursts of steam allows the heat of the iron to remove the remaining steam and set the press. The high precision tip allows for easy ironing in all tough to reach areas; seams, collars, pockets, and around buttons. Comes with a 1 year warranty.

Bought this Iron 2 years ago- Model DZ9080. Worked well and ironed well. Looked great. Paid around $130.00. After 12 months it overheated then the red LED indicator light flashed and the iron would no longer heat up. Found the nearest repair service center called Turnpike Appliance in Long Island NY. Wrote them a letter and explained the problem; they sent me a new Rowenta iron within 10 days. I was very impressed with the great service of the repair facility. After 15 months the iron failed again! Less then 35 hours of use within 15 months. Same problem. I looked on Amazon.com and read the reviews; this iron definetly has a problem with the design of its electronics. Wrote another letter to the repair facility stating the same failure. The repair facility Turnpike Appliance sent be another brand new Rowenta iron within 5 days after I mailed the defective one back to them. They sent me a new model DW9080. I like the design of Rowenta irons and bought it because of the perceived quality of the product. Very disappointed in the electonics of model DZ9080; but very impressed with the great customer serivce I received from Turnpike Appliance. Because of the great customer service and because Rowenta replaced the Iron twice with no charge to me; since I know they had an issuse with this model, I will continue to buy their products. I just hope this new model will at least last a few years before if fails. Rowenta and Turnpike appliance thank you for the exceptional customer service.

This Rowenta is a big waste of money. (2010-08-25) : 1/5
I was tired of the junky Black and Decker and other cheap irons I had been using , so I decided to splurge on a Rowenta and purchased what I thought was the very best iron for those rare times I sew, or when I actually do need to iron something. Although I have had this iron for a couple years, I have used it only a dozen times at the most (I am a wash and wear gal most of the time). Well, I just experienced the same failure as the other 50 + reviewers - it suddenly got very hot, and now does not heat up at all. I got the flashing red and yellow one time, but now it just flashes yellow - no heat at all. What a waste of money. Too bad, because it was a nice iron and worked well when it worked - but $10 per use is way too expensive! Hopefully Rowenta has discontinued this or at least improved the design of the new Rowenta Advancer.

Avoid thi sproduct (2010-08-22) : 1/5
Read the poor reviews - those of us who have owned this product for more than a year.

It leaks, scalds, and spots clothes. Not the 'gold standard' you would expect for such an expensive product.

Short-lived product (2010-07-30) : 1/5
I have owned two high-end Rowenta irons, the second being this model. The first iron lasted 1 1/2 years, then overheated and melted my clothing before dying. The second stopped heating after 1 year 2 months. I have never dropped or misused the irons. The problem is internal, so the iron must be sent to a Rowenta service center for repair, which can be costly and take a month or more. Investigate before you invest in this iron; my problem is very common.

Avoid this like a plague (2010-07-16) : 1/5
This was our second Rowenta purchase. The first one (DZ 5080) was leaking water from the handle, so we decided to buy this Advancer model. It was ironing good, but again leaked water from the base, not the sole plate, after 6 months. Then after an year it fails to heat up for about 30 minutes, sometimes not at all. We paid $160 with discount at Macy's for this iron. We are going to buy a Black & Decker or Panasonic. It may look nice, but believe me, its life is only 1 year. You can buy Rowent irons if you are willing to buy an iron every year, that is the durability of Rowenta products. Sadly, I realized this after spending $230 on two irons.
