Worth the money paid. (2010-07-20) : 4/5
The light works fine. Bright enough to see easily in a good size area. The extra rod bracket it comes with is not explained anywhere and fairly useless, but the standard setup works fine and easy to install. The string-pull for on/off does seem a bit flimsy.
Not very bright (2010-07-16) : 2/5
I chose this product because of the multiple LED bulbs. Not as bright as I thought it would be. It does provide plenty of cord for preferential placement. Only recommended to provide minor relief from total darkness.
Good Little Light (2010-07-09) : 4/5
I'm using this light for a different reason. My whole house is solar powered but one day while getting ready to go to work a component of my system failed and left me in a pitch black bathroom trying to shave.
So this light was purchased to be installed in my bathroom as an emergency backup and it serves well for that purpose.
I found the light easy to install, as others have mentioned, the cord is actually only 16 feet not 20. The angled power plug which needs to fit through a hole in the wall did make it necessary to dirll a 5/8 inch hole, if it had been straight it may have fit through a 1/4 inch hole.
I agree with other reviewers that say this is "night light" bright. It's adequate for my small bathroom, I tried getting ready for work using only this light and had no difficulties until it was time to shave, it was possible but I really couldn't see how well I had done until I turned on another light. So it's bright eneough to move around and get things done but not bright eneough for any detail work.
The box says it will only last two hours on the high level and four hours on the low level. I think it would probably last longer if you were using it in a dark place but the solar panel still in the sun.
Interestingly, this light puts out less light than my two LED headband style light but the light is diffused through out the room where the headband light is more focused
Pros: Easy fo install
It will always be charged and ready to use.
It's only $25
Cons: Angled power plug needed bigger hole
Not as bright as I was hoping but the price is right for what you get.
No explanation for the "L" bracket.
And Thanks to the person that explained the mysterious "L" bracket, it now makes sense but I wasted some time trying to figure out what it was for even after I saw where it fit in the base.
Excellent performance so far (2010-05-13) : 5/5
Bought it from a local store in last week. I am amazed so far. Light is bright. Also, the 2 power consumption setting makes it even better. Usually I put it on half power (5 LED). It says in 5 LED mode, it will run for 4 hour. But I found the LEDs are still producing enough light even after 6 hours! I reckon it's because of summer, when you have enough day light to charge.
Another good thing is the charge indicator shows active even it is a dark cloudy day! I believe it means it is charging in any day light condition. Cool! Before to buy this light, I have emailed the manufacturer asking whether this light will charge in any day light condition, but they haven't got back to me. I assume they might not know the answer! May be they are not the manufacturer of the solar panel. Well, that's not the main issue here. I am satisfied up to now. But, it will be interesting to see how well it performs during winter season.
Works Great thing of buying more of them (2010-03-30) : 5/5
It really works great. I use it a light our staircase going to the basement. I run line outside and put the solar panel on a pole use U brackets i pick up from lowes. The U bracket are the one with nuts on them. The light is bright. I also use Velco to mount it to the wall so don't wont to put holes in the wall. Ok About the L bracket i email the company the said this. " Thank you for contacting us. The L bracket can be used as a clamp mount if you do not have an area to do a drill mount. If you would like some help understanding how to use that bracket you can contact our Parts and Service Department at 425-637-9601 M-F 8-4:30 Pacific time. " I'm think of buying more of them. Would have been nice if the light had a timer on it.
hope my review helps you and other ways you can use it.
