The 12-inch by 12-inch Adhesive Pad-29-0386 (for the Expression machine 29-0300 only) is a self sticking pad that keeps the material being cut flat so that there is no tearing on the paper or vinyl. Since the pad retains its stickiness for a limited amount of cuts we recommend buying extra pads. The pads are also great for storing the paper or vinyl that has already been cut. Two mats included. Custom designed for creating the most intricate paper crafts with the Cricut machine. Printed rulers and markings facilitate convenient and accurate use. When I saw the price on these, I thought it was a big pack of them or something, and then I saw that it was only 2!!!! Cricut's wesbite even has them at $12.99 for a set of two! This is a ridiculous price!

This was exactly what I ordered. The Matt was rolled up like a tube when they put it in my mailbox so make sure you mark the package as "Do not bend".

When the mats are new they can be TOO sticky. Be sure to remove what you're cutting as soon as it's cut or it seems to be more likely to tear when you try to remove it.
Then, later the stickiness wears off and isn't sticky enough, or at all!
Seems costly for something that is either too sticky or not sticky enough. What I was told (not sure yet if it saves any money) is when the stickiness wears off use a repositional spray adhesive on the mat before you put your paper on it. I have done this many times, but the spray can be messy.
Not much you can do if want to use the Cricut or Expressions. I just look for good sales on the mats.
